Definition
A DM funnel is the sequence of steps a person goes through in your Instagram DMs from first contact to a purchase: it starts with a comment or a story reply, passes through price and order questions, and ends with payment and delivery. It is called a funnel because some people leave at every step; a good funnel loses fewer of them.
The typical steps
- Entry: a DM to everyone who comments "price" under a Reel, or "reply LINK" in a story.
- Information: automatic replies to price, stock and shipping questions; cards for several products.
- Intent: ordering steps for anyone who types "order", or a Form Builder form that asks for the details one at a time.
- Payment: a payment link or bank details; when the confirmation arrives, a person takes over.
- Afterwards: a thank-you, a review request, a code for the next order.
In BixoChat a funnel is a handful of Direct Automations linked by words, one Comment Automation and, if needed, one form. There are no bulk messages: the customer triggers every step by typing a word or tapping a button.
